just a li'l bit
one thing that's very strange about road tripping is the music that accompanies you on the road. as you all know we have my trusty ipod, which is getting more and more scratched as we go on, and i suspect we're getting a little sick of all the music on there (at least i am). so as we drive along, playing the same song we played two days before, we start to remember and associate that music with other places. for example: r. kelly reminds me of the drive to grand canyon, the drive through west texas at night, and the drive through the windy roads in mineral king. weird.
in addition to the weirdness of the recurring ipod music, we also have the official songs of the road trip which i would hereby like to introduce to you. first, by popular demand, we have "i'd rather dance with you" by the kings of convenience. definitely an ipod contribution, dan has pretty much listened to this song once a day on average, which is a lot.
the second official song of the road trip is a reluctant admission. like jack handey says, you have to let nudity happen. well, this is something that just happened. everywhere we've gone - austin, new orleans, flagstaff, mississippi - we've been unable to avoid that annoying-ass 50 cent song "just a little bit." you may not have heard it so i would like to post some of the lyrics for your enjoyment: "we can head to the crib in a lil bit.. I can show you how I live in a lil bit, I wanna unbutton your pants just a lil bit, take 'em off pull em down just a lil bit, get to kissin' and touchin' a lil bit..."
in other words it's annoying.
however, we've heard it so much that it has to be the road trip song, and i'm sure if i ever hear it again 30 years from now, i will flash right back to the CRV and the road trippin. just a lil bit.
