yay wisconsin

i do love wisconsin - dan's "spiritual home". today we (meaning dan, arielle and i) went to milwaukee and got there around lunchtime. we had lunch at a place called sauce, where none of us ate anything with sauce. it was really tasty though - very good tomato soup and french fries. we then went to the milwaukee art museum, which is awesome looking. it has these big wings which open and close at noon and five, but which we didn't get to see open or close. but it's absolutely awesome - the architecture is so cool (see pics). as dan put it, it's very "shapy." the elevator was so cool looking that arielle and i rode down to the basement and back up.

we spent a long time wandering around the museum. dan flipped out about the video installation - talking about how "some people take time to actually come up with something CREATIVE instead of just putting together useless CRAP" and it was pretty damn entertaining. we met up with his mom and went to a brewery/restaurant thing for a pint and some appetizers/snacks. of course on the way there we bought cheese curds, which i still do not understand. they're just like cheese - only i hear that they are supposed to squeak when you eat them. i'm not sure how i feel about squeaky food.

after our pseudo dinner of pretzel bites and fried zucchini, we drove back to dan's grandma's (again still with arielle) and hung out watching notting hill. dan and i both love that movie and yet we still mocked it the entire time we watched it, and i think arielle was fighting off the instinct to puke. then she and dan watched traffic while i read the chuck klosterman book. i'm pissed at that guy - his stupid book steals major premises/events from my life, and yet he wrote it first. oh well, as dan says perhaps i could write something about a road trip that's more "existential," whatever that means.
