springpatch
the past two nights we've spent in springfield hanging out with dan's family. who are awesome. his mom and i occasionally teamed up against him and he doesn't get as pissy when it's not just me, and also they gave me a little gift "for putting up with dan." which really isn't that difficult, but it is funny.
we got here sunday night, after a drive across indiana and after hanging out with bergy (lunch, ice cream and tour of his house) in the 'nati, and immediately went out for tasty indian food. then we swung by a video store and rented a couple of movies to watch. it was really nice actually to just hang out and watch videos - i haven't done that in ages, especially in a house. we watch sky captain and the world of tomorrow the first night, and then lilo & stitch (dan likes stitch because he fsu's) and stage beauty the second night. good times.
on monday we had lunch with yummy falafel and went to the lincoln museum. it was fun - there were a few gimmicky presentations like "the ghosts of the library" about how if you go to a library you can find mysteries of the past etc. super high production values on everything. but the museum was also really cool - and it was also kind of sad to think about all that gettysburg address stuff that was sort of true once and now is also, still, only sort of true. gotta love the government.
today after some errands and lunch in springfield, we drove up to chicago (technically the south side of it) to dan's grandma's house. we went to dinner with her and now we're driving up to pick up arielle from evanston. the next few days we're going to be seeing a lot of people we know that are our age, and i for one am thankful. woot woot.
